  • WHERE DO THE COSTS COME FROM?
    • The major factor affecting the overall cost of your conversion is the size of the space you have within your roof that you require converting. The price between a large detached property and a small terrace property can be vastly different, but the requirements from one conversion to another are always different and can also contribute heavily towards the cost. Flat Dormer windows are often a requirement for smaller lofts and are an excellent way of creating a larger room from a small loft space, but feature dormers are commonly used on larger properties to add that extra feature to inside and outside of the property.

If the space within your loft is adequate without the installation of dormer windows then a more cost effective option is to have Velux windows. Velux windows are a great way to gain natural light into your new room and can also create a feature by installing a bank of 4 Duo System or a Cabrio Balcony System.

      Other factors effecting cost are:-

      • Size of dormer windows
      • Number of Velux windows
      • Installation of bathroom suites
      • Alterations to existing heating systems.
  • WHAT TO INCLUDE IN MY CONVERSION?
    • What to included and what not to include in your conversion can often be a guessing game without some guidance or previous experience but with a little bit of guidance you should be able to tailor your package to best suit your requirements. Below are some helpful tips:-

      1. Dormer windows – Feature dormers are generally 600mm, 1.2m or 2.4m wide. It is difficult to have a pitched dormer the full length of your property without making the pitch on the new dormer roof to shallow. For a dormer from side to side then a flat dormer is usually the done thing but if a flat roof is not your preferred option then consider a couple of pitched dormer.

      2. Double Sockets - Generally four double sockets in each room is the standard requirement.

      3. Lights – If the budget is tight then consider having pendent lights in each room but to add a bit of character then consider spot lights. Don’t forget the new landing! Pendent lights are the norm so that they can be reached and easy to change the buld.

      4. En-Suites / Bathrooms – Remember to included a windows for your en-suite. Often a smaller windows such as a C02 or an M04 are more than adequate.
